Get Out & Play has grown up! Ecker Hill Middle School students have new opportunities for some active fun after school on Friday afternoons with the ACTiV8 program.
Scholarships are available.
Students have the option to take part in one activity per session. Each activity has a lifestyle quality attached on completing 8 activities (must include CPR), students will receive the “Park City ACTiV8 Award”. Students need to be responsible for obtaining signatures from the coaching staff on their “community passport”. Lifestyle criteria include: Accountability, Confidence, Equality, Inspiration, Kindness, Leadership, Respect, Versatility.
The program will feature the following activities:
- Adventure Fitness Challenge with Basin Rec
- Cross Country Skiing
- Creative Drawing & Illustration
- CPR Training
Basin Recreation is offering The ACTiV8 Challenge Fitness Program – an adventurous fitness program
that incorporates unique challenges to keep your ACTiV8 member’s mind and body strong.
Dates are Fridays, March 24 – April 17 1:45-2:45 at Ecker Hill.
The baseball sessions will be game based approach to learning and developing baseball skills like batting, throwing and pitching, fielding and base running. We will introduce modified team games with various types of equipment. The addition of Zooka Pitching Machine and radar guns to add to the fun. Prizes for skills competition and good sports award.
Baseball will take place straight after school. 1:45-2:45PM and will happen rain or shine. (No refunds for bad weather)
This session, focuses on learning new climbing skills while having fun. Students will learn climbing techniques through interactive lessons. While the emphasis is always on having fun, students will be working together to achieve a goal that would be un-achievable alone. Through various team building exercises the participants will learn to trust others and work together, often under pressure. Participants will learn to separate rational and irrational fears. Participants will learn that failure can lead to success hands-on as they progress their climbing ability throughout the 4 week program and begin to succeed on climbs that they could not complete at the beginning of the session.
This is a 4 week session and will take place at The Mine Bouldering Gym, a world-class indoor climbing facility in Kimball Junction. Time 3:00-4:30PM
COST $65 (includes coaching and shoe rental) – NO TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED to make this program affordable unfortunately we can not provide transportation however all public transportation does drop off at Kimball Junction. Please provide your child with a healthy snack and drink.

CREATIVE DRAWING & ILLUSTRATION
Looking to take your drawing and illustration skills to the next level? This class celebrates drawing, creative thinking and painting for seriously artsy kids. Learn how professional illustrators quickly create super solutions to challenging assignments. Explore visual problem solving as a skill that is both fun and valuable in all times and places. CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
Improving on the fundamentals of cross country skiing. Program will focus primarily on the foundation of cross country skiing – classic technique, with a limited skate ski component added in. Students will develop skills through games, obstacle course relays and time on the trail. Lessons provided by Park City Nordic Ski Club Coaches with equipment and track pass provided by WHITE PINE TOURING NORDIC CENTER.
- Between 1:45 and 2:30 we will be having motivational speakers talk to the students at school. Speakers include Olympic Silver medalist Shannon Bahrke and Olympian Freestyle Skier Tracy Evans
- Equipment is included with the lesson.
- Transportation is Provided – pick up at school at 2:30PM return at 4:45PM.

First Aid/CPR Course
When an emergency happens, make sure you know what to do. Come learn First Aid/CPR and AED skills from our Certified National Safety Council Instructors. This course meets National Standards.
CPR will take place straight after school. 1:45-5:45PM in the Garage!

MOVE is a program designed to increase strength, power, conditioning, and speed as well as develop athletic ability and positioning. We increase fitness to help young people feel and perform their best. This program will offer a variety of lifestyle skills including empowerment, self awareness, confidence, respect, perseverance and teamwork. Please provide your child with a healthy snack and drink.snack and drink.

The US Luge Association/Youth Winter Sports Alliance After School Luge Program is designed specifically for youth ages 8-13 (minimum height 52 inches), who have never been on a sled before. This program can lead directly to on-going training opportunities with the Wasatch Luge Club’s Youth Training Program and national level competitions.
All athletes start at curve 12, the lowest point available on the track to run sleds. Here we take the first few runs on the last 4 curves (bottom ¼) of the track. Once everyone is comfortable we move up the track to the Tourist Start (one curve and straightaway higher).
The program runs for 3 consecutive Fridays with registered participants sliding on all three of the dates. After the program concludes athletes are then welcome to continue training with the Wasatch Luge Club’s Youth Training Program (meets Saturday nights). $100, includes all equipment, coaching, track fees, and membership to USA Luge
Home to Nordic Ski Jumping, Bobsled, Skeleton and Luge competitions during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, come play at an Official U.S. Olympic Training Site. Utah Olympic Park offers outdoor adventures for all levels. Our adventure activities are designed to inspire, challenge and push your boundaries. You will have an opportunity to test your mental and physical mettle on adventure ropes courses, drop tower, zip lines, alpine slide and extreme tubing. Each activity is unique. Some may encourage team work and support, while others will require participants to focus individually to problem solve and overcome fears. Surrounded by Olympic heritage and athletes training for their Olympic dreams, Utah Olympic Park is unmatched and a great place to play outside.

We have teamed up with Basin Recreation to offer mountain biking programs for Beginner to Intermediate Riders. Every rider will learn safety, trail etiquette, ascending, descending, obstacles and some tips on how to get to the top. (*If you do not own a bike and would like to participate in this program please contact Heather Sims). This program leaves directly from the school grounds 1:45-3:45PM and will happen rain or shine.

Skullcandy Skate Camp is a great way to learn to skateboard or develop new skills and take your skating to the next level. This session is open to all abilities and will teach the basic skills necessary to get on a board for the first time, or to develop and challenge the more advanced skater. Skate Camp will encourage team building, stepping outside your comfort zone to take on a new challenge and is sure to inspire our youth to #stayloud.

SOCIAL ICE SKATING
Come join us for a fun ice skating session at the Park City Ice Arena. Hang out with friends, learn to skate or practice some moves. No instruction is provided, TRANSPORTATION INCLUDED. Pick up from school at 1:45 return 3:20PM. Please provide a healthy snack.

TEEN IRON CHEF
Learn to be a great young and healthy chef. We will learn basic cooking techniques and end with a fun food challenge to test all your new skills! Junior Iron Chef will teach the basics of cooking or teach you new techniques if you are a seasoned chef already. Iron Chef will develop team building and leadership skills as well excite your taste buds!
Classes are Fridays 1:45-3:15pm at Ecker Hill. Dates are March 17-April 14 (no class during Spring break).

Ivivva sparks and connects a global community of brave, compassionate and adventurous girls – to get involved, support each other and impact the world around them in their own unique way. This Program starts at 1:45-2:45PM at Ecker Hill Middle School.
A refund minus $25.00 will be given in the event of withdrawal from a program prior to that session’s registration closure date. No refund will be given after the registration close date unless cancellation is due to a documented injury or extreme circumstance.
Program Change Policy
If you make changes to your child’s registration which result in an additional charge or refund of your credit card, a $5.00 processing fee will be charged.
