Volunteer for Get Out & Play!

The coordinator’s position gets a substantial discount for one child in the program they are coordinating for, (effectively we are paying you to help). The coordinator works with the program manager to ensure the program runs smoothly in their school. The coordinator manages the armbands, volunteers, bus chaperones and sends the weekly emails to parents. If you are interested in learning more about this position please email Heather Sims. In some cases there may need to be 1-3 coordinators per school.
If you are registered for a program and want to volunteer please contact your school coordinator.
This program would not be such a success without the countless parent volunteers who step up each week to help out. Parents who sign their children up are not expected to volunteer, but are asked to consider helping out with at least 1 day during the program. Volunteer opportunities are listed below:
We need about 6 volunteers to ride as “sweeper” at the back of the group to keep the group together.
We need 1-2 volunteers to be at the Bouldering Mine to “chaperone” the kids taking part.
Gear Up (All Resorts) 12:30 – 1:00
Parents can come to the school and assist their child, as well as other children with getting geared up, sun screened, armbands on, lined up and loaded on the buses.
Bus Chaperones (All Resorts) 12:15 – 4:45
Parents can volunteer to help load students on the buses, load and unload gear, and assist with grouping students at the resort. Once students are with their instructors, parent chaperones are free to use their free afternoon lift ticket to go ski. They need to be back to the bottom of the mountain by 3:45 to help students load buses.
UOP & White Pine Programs 12:30 – 4:00
These programs have smaller groups of kids going from school, so only 1 or 2 parents are needed for the afternoon. Parents will assist kids with getting geared up, loaded on bus, unloaded at venue, grouped with instructors, and then loaded back on bus at end of lessons.
Ice Skating 12:30 – 4:00
This program has a very small group of kids going from each school, so only 1 or 2 parents are needed for the afternoon. Parents will assist kids at school with getting geared up, loaded on bus, unloaded at ice arena, grouped with instructors, and then loaded back on bus at end of lessons. During the lesson, parents can relax in the lobby.
Armband Maintenance (All Resorts) Weekly
Every child in the program is required to wear an armband. A small group of parents at each school can sign up to re-organize and re-distribute the bands each week. This is a huge help to the lead school coordinator.
Please consider volunteering for a day of Get Out & Play. We can’t make this happen without you!!
