Program Descriptions

Programs will run: Session 1, 2, 3, 4

There will no longer be advanced levels offered in any of the Get Out & Play Programs. GO&P is considered a “Fun, Learner” program, giving kids the chance to experience new winter sports. Never-Ever through Intermediate levels will be available. There are many great options for advanced level athletes in our community. Or, sign them up for something they have never tried!

PC_Ice_IconIce Skating lessons will be provided by PARK CITY ICE ARENA  for Sessions 1 and 4.  PCSD elementary schools will participate in a (4) week program. The first week will introduce students to the fundamentals of being on skates. Weeks 2-4 will be hosted by the Figure Skating Club, Hockey Club and Speed Skating Club and will introduce students to the fundamentals of figure skating, hockey and speed skating. Skates will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own. *Lessons will run 1 1/2 hours.

Alpine Skiing
lessons will be provided by DEER VALLEY  for session 2. A limited group of 30 Jeremy Ranch students grades 2 – 5 will receive instruction in Alpine Skiing, and will explore the appropriate mountain terrain, based on their level. Levels will range from first time to intermediate. The Deer Valley Program will be offered to 2 schools next year, as they grow their program with Get Out & Play. *Lessons will run 2 1/2 hours. Lesson group size will be 6 students to 1 instructor.

Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding lessons will be provided by PARK CITY MOUNTAIN RESORT  for session 2. This year  Jeremy Ranch, McPolin and Weilenmann School of Discovery students will receive instruction in Alpine Skiing or Snowboarding, and will explore the appropriate mountain terrain, based on their level. Levels will range from first time to intermediate.*Lessons will run 2 1/2 hours. Lesson group size will be 8 students to 1 instructor.

 lessons will be provided by CANYONS  for session 2. This year Parleys Park and Trailside students will receive instruction in Alpine Skiing or Snowboarding, and will explore the appropriate mountain terrain, based on their level. Levels will range from first time to intermediate. *Lessons will run 2 1/2 hours. Lesson group size will be 7 students to 1 instructor.

Freestyle, Freeride Ski & Snowboard and Nordic Jumping  lessons will be provided UTAH OLYMPIC PARK  for sessions 2 and 3. All PCSD elementary schools will participate in Session 2 and 3. WSD will participate in Session 2 only. *Lessons will run 2 hours. Lesson group size will be 6 students to 1 instructor.

Freestyle Skiing (Moguls)
  Students will be introduced to basic freestyle maneuvers in the air and on the ground with the use of jumps, bumps, rails, and skier cross.  Freestyle includes moguls big air and some skier cross.  Participants must bring their own alpine skis, boots, and poles (optional), and be at least an intermediate skier.   Instruction by Fly Freestyle Coaches

Freeride Skiing  
Students will learn how to use the Terrain Park, jumps and ski-cross in a safe, instructional environment.  Park includes rails and boxes.  Participants must bring their own alpine ski equipment, and be at least an intermediate level.    Instruction by Axis Freeride Coaches

Freeride Snowboard
  Students will learn how to use the Terrain Park in a safe, instructional environment.  Park includes rails and boxes as well as a boarder cross course.  Participants must bring their own snowboard equipment, and be at least an intermediate level with the ability to turn on both toe and heel edges.  Instruction by Team Utah Snowboarding Coaches

Nordic Jumping
  Students will be introduced to the basics of Nordic jumping. They will progress from snow bumps up through the 20 meter jump. Participants must bring their own alpine equipment, and be at least an intermediate skier.  Instruction by Park City Nordic Ski Club Coaches

Cross-Country Skiing will be provided by the PARK CITY NORDIC SKI CLUB with equipment and track pass provided by  WHITE PINE NORDIC CENTER  for sessions 2 and 3. All PCSD elementary schools will participate in Session 2 and 3. WSD will participate in Session 2 only.PSNSC Logo

This program will run only 4 weeks for Session 2. Session 3 will run as a 5 week program. **Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of cross country skiing.  Program will focus primarily on the foundation of cross country skiing – classic technique, with a limited skate ski component added in. Students will develop skills through games, obstacle course relays and time on the trail.  There is no end to all the fun things they will do on skis!  All lessons will be taught by the experienced coaches of the Park City Nordic Ski Club. Equipment is included with the lesson.
*Lessons will run 1 1/2 hours. Lesson group size will be 10-12 students to 1 lead and 1 junior instructor. These numbers will better facilitate games and activities within each group.

A “Never Ever” Cross-Country Intro Program will be offered in early December for any student registered in the Get Out & Play program who would like to learn to cross-country ski. This 2 week program will teach the basic skills of the sport. Lessons will run from 1:30pm to 3:00pm on Friday December 6th and 13th. Equipment is included with the lesson.
*Transportation IS NOT provided. Parents will need to drop off and pick up their child from White Pine Nordic  Center
