YWSA Awards 2012/13 Grants & Scholarships

In late December, YWSA’s Grants & Scholarships Committee was pleased to award $44,000 in program grants to YWSA member teams. Grants were awarded to support athlete/coach education, equipment, uniforms, and race support for YWSA’s member teams.
Additionally, more than $25,000 in scholarships were awarded to 30 junior athlete applicants to support training, equipment and competition travel expenses for the 2012-13 season.
Congratulations to the 2012-13 scholarship and grant recipients, and thank you to all the YWSA donors and supporters who make these scholarships and grants possible.

Thank You for an Outstanding 2012!

Thank You for Grooming the Dreams

of  YWSA’s Athletes

Friends of the Youth Winter Sports Alliance,

As we close out 2012, I wanted to extend my sincere appreciation to our great network of supporters. Through your generous donations of time, money, equipment, facilities and support the Youth Winter Sports Alliance has never been stronger, and because of your support the youth of our community are poised to achieve some amazing accomplishments, whether it be a first solo run down the mountain or a first podium.
We owe a huge thanks to you – our sponsors, volunteers, the teams of the alliance, athletes, parents, and to the great venues in Park City!  All of you have given or sacrificed at some level to provide a great platform for our kids to embark on careers and experiences in winter sports.

Hatch CoachingWe are looking forward to a great 2013, and your continued generosity will allow us to support more than 2000 athletes and 13 teams, as well as the opportunity to introduce the youth of our area to winter sports programs through our Get Out and Play program, and the ability to continue with our growing scholarship and grant programs.

As you consider your year-end giving opportunities, please consider a tax-deductible gift to the Youth Winter Sports Alliance. Your donation will continue to help inspire and groom the dreams of youth right here in our community. Please follow the link here to make your donation today.
Thank you and Happy Holidays,
Geoff Buchheister

Kids from all over Park City are participating in Get Out & Play’s new Ice Program this month! Thanks to the Park City Ice Arena staff and all of our program volunteers for helping to introduce ice sports to Park City’s kids!

The Youth Winter Sports Alliance and Park City Ice Arena have launched the first season of Get Out & Play Ice! Over 60 Park City elementary students will get out on the ice for five weeks this Fall, and again for another five weeks this Spring. The program is an introduction to all aspects of ice sports.

The first two weeks have been all about basic, fundamentals of getting around on the ice.
Week three will be hosted by the Figure Skating Club of Park City, and will give students a general scope of figure skating.

Week four will be hosted by the Park City Hockey Club, and will give students a chance to learn the game of hockey.

Week five will be hosted by the Park City Speedskating Club, and will introduce students to the thrilling sport of speed skating with Olympians Derek Parra and Catherine Raney-Norman.

Thanks to the Park City Ice Arena staff and our program volunteers to introducing Park City’s kids to fun on the ice. For more information on Get Out and Play please click here.
