The Youth WinterSports Alliance was established with one goal: to create a legacy to the 2002 Winter Olympic Games by spearheading a community-wide effort to increase the number of children who actively participate in winter sport programs from the greater Park City area, as well as Summit and Wasatch Counties.
Coming out of the 2002 Salt Lake Games, and reinforced by watching the 2006 Torino Games, the children of Utah have an increased awareness of a vast number of winter sports. Many of these children also have a great desire to get out and emulate their newfound heroes. That simple point, together with the fact that our community is now home to state-of-the-art competition venues, relocated elite athletes and burgeoning clubs, makes the pursuit of sport a natural goal for our local students.
